My life has always been about making something out of nothing. Things never came easy for me. From an NBA contract to major distribution for my label Tru Warier Records, I've had to work hard for everything I've accomplished. I grew up in Queensbridge, spending most of my childhood playing basketball and listening to Michael Jackson records. My aunt even bought me the leather jacket with all those zippers, just like the one in the "Beat It" video! My life turned crazy during my adolescent years when I was swept into the street culture of guns and drugs. I remember living next door to Havoc of Mobb Deep. He'd be making those classic Mobb bangers in his house while my family was cooking crack in their house. To make things worse, my parents separated and our house burned down.

Only through the grace of God did I survive those rough years. Even though I made it to St. John's University on a basketball scholarship, things were still difficult. There was even a period of time where I got by on selling weed. As I matured, I finally realized my potential to make it to the NBA. I put the negative parts of my life behind me and focused on basketball. In '99 I was drafted by the Chicago Bulls. I should have been drafted higher, but the general managers and scouts weren't respecting defense. I didn't let that change my game. I made my mark in the league by shutting down our opponents' top-scorers on a consistent basis. Eventually, I won the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Despite my busy schedule of practice and games, I always found time to devote to my other passion: emceeing. I've always had Hip Hop in my veins, and I was able to let the world know that in May of 2002 when I started Tru Warier Records. It is today, in 2006, that I know I am finally ready to give you my debut album. Don't expect my album to sound like anyone else's. My style of rapping is exactly like the way I play ball, versatile and unorthodox. This album would not have been possible without God, my wife Kimsha, who has been by my side since we were 14 and my four children. Also be on the lookout for my autobiography I'm working on with HipHopGame.com Editor Brian Kayser.
