Executive Summary
Quality physical education programs are needed to increase physical competence, health-related fitness, self-esteem and enjoyment of physical activity for all children so that they can be physically active for a lifetime. (Seefeldt & Vobel, 1986). Knowing that physical activity promotes health is not enough. Children must be given opportunities to gain the knowledge and skills needed to adopt active lifestyles. The Otis Wilson Foundation currently provides these opportunities to children and their families by offering strategically developed programs which increase the individual participants physical competence, self-esteem and fitness activity level.
The Otis Wilson Foundation, a non-profit organization, is committed to the communities it serves, and most importantly, to the children. This commitment which has grown throughout the previous years of dedication to children throughout the country, is currently being focused in the Chicagoland area. The Otis Wilson Foundation desires to reduce the negative outcomes related to low levels of physical activity and poor nutrition in the lives of our young, and increase the positive outcomes and produce lifelong, activity, healthy individuals.
The Otis Wilson Foundation has over 15 years experience in the development of programs focusing on the needs of children. Otis Wilson, Bears Superbowl Linebacker, formed the Foundation to help children have opportunities available to them that otherwise would not. Wilson and his Foundation have touched the lives of over 10,000 children throughout the United States, and has the continued determination to lend assistance to as many children as possible.

The Vision
The vision is a holistic approach to physical fitness. The Otis Wilson Foundation focuses on both the physical attributes of fitness, as well as, instruction on proper nutrition and eating habits. The Foundation believes and is dedicated to assisting a child’s entire family to learn proper nutritional habits. This is fostered through educational programming which brings experienced and highly trained nutritionists to the children and their families.
The Otis Wilson Foundation understands and believes that although the Foundation can make a significant difference in the lives of many children and their families, it is important to create partnerships with both public and private entities. As a whole, and more importantly as a team, these groups can help produce a significant change in the physical fitness level of children throughout Chicagoland. The Foundation desires to help foster partnerships among public and private groups that will ultimately become a significant factor in instilling positive life skills to communities throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
