Matt Stover

OUR BACKGROUND
For the last 10 years, Matt Stover and his wife Debbie have made generous private donations to community-based charitable organizations. Matt yearned to do more. On June 18, 2002, he formed the Matt Stover Foundation, Inc. to pool his donations with funds from other individuals and organizations. The result has been greater assistance to those who need it most. Last year, the Matt Stover Foundation provided over $100,000 to community organizations throughout Baltimore. The foundation budget is projecting over $170,000 to be gifted in 2004.

OUR FOCUS
The Matt Stover Foundation was formed in 2002 to centralize the Stover family’s contributions. The foundation will only make gifts to be used for charitable purposes. In short, the mission of the Matt Stover Foundation is to provide financial support to under-funded educational, religious and other charitable organizations.

OUR MISSION
The foundation is true to its mission and is not a vehicle to promote Matt Stover or his name in the community. Matt is adamant that all foundation proceeds are placed in the hands of those in need. Matt established his foundation to promote organizations supporting good will, positive beliefs and community values.

The Matt Stover Foundation plans to continue to focus its charitable work in the Baltimore vicinity. The foundation will provide gifts to worthy causes and programs throughout all sectors of the community without prejudice. Programs that benefit underprivileged children are close to Matt’s heart, but he has not dedicated the sole purpose of the foundation to serving only youth.

    Dear Sir:

I volunteer my time working with youth attending the Franklin Square Elementary Middle School. Our students come from disadvantage households in crime and drug affected neighborhoods in southwest Baltimore. While I coach middle school debate and lacrosse, I also serve as a mentor-role model for many of the students.

I am working to create career exploration afterschool program to attract high performing students to the school and instill a determined commitment to achieve among all our students. Having been an attorney in Baltimore City for the last twenty years, I am convinced that a law and forensic science would meet with the most productive results. I am so committed to the creation of the program that I have reduced my practice to part-time and spend much of my time working at the school with the students. The benefit of a law and forensic science program will not only provide legal career exploration, but it will also promote good citizenship among our youth.

Through the assistance of your foundation the school can obtain the financial and/or in-kind influence needed to obtain the funding for law related textbooks and written materials, youth forensic science kits, transportation for field trips, and stipends for facilitators.

    Thank you.
