The Brandon Roy Foundation
The Brandon Roy Foundation was created to instill confidence, determination, and leadership in young people by offering support in education, life skills, and athletics. We seek to provide underserved youth with adequate resources so that each child can maximize his or her potential to succeed and be a leader in our community.

Academic Support
Understanding that education is essential to success, the Brandon Roy Foundation will provide disadvantaged youth with tutoring in a variety of subjects. We will set high expectations and goals so that through hard work, our participants can achieve at a higher level. Diagnostic learning assessments will take place in order to evaluate learning styles and diagnose any disabilities or weaknesses that may exist. After determining each student’s preferred method of learning and assisting students with disabilities, participants will realize how they learn best, giving them confidence and an understanding of how they can succeed in the classroom.

Athletic and Life Skills Training
We believe that participation in athletics develops essential skills in the areas of discipline, teamwork, and leadership. However, many children do not have access to affordable athletic training and facilities. We will fill this void by offering participants individual skill development, physical training, health education, and opportunities for team play.

Most importantly, the Brandon Roy Foundation seeks to cultivate well-rounded and happy human beings. Support and guidance will be available for students, parents, and families in need. Furthermore, through the Brandon Roy Foundation, impressionable youth will gain positive role models who can help them develop into successful adults and contributing members of society.

Roy Court
On September 17th, 2008, The Brandon Roy Foundation officially opened Roy Court to the public. Located at Delridge Community Center in West Seattle, Roy Court is a refurbished basketball court at the place where Brandon grew up playing and refining the skills that helped him become an NBA all-star. “This place means a lot to me and my family,” said Brandon. “I can remember my grandmother taking me over to Delridge CC and later lifting weights there for the first time. We spent countless hours at this court, it was our own KeyArena back in the day. To be in this position and remain a part of this community is really special for me and my family. Even though it’s just a court, we hope the kids in Delridge take pride in it and make it a special place for the top pick up games in the neighborhood. We could not have made this happen without the support of AT&T and Muscle Milk, two of my current partners. They have been tremendous to work with and we look forward to future community contributions.”

Basketball Clinic
On August 16th, 2008 the Brandon Roy Foundation and Seattle Parks and Recreation teamed up to host a free basketball clinic for kids ages 8-12 at Rainier Community Center in Seattle, WA. The participants learned basketball fundamentals as well as had the opportunity to hear Brandon talk about the importance of education.
