The Amer-I-Can Foundation for Social Change
1851 Sunset Plaza
Los Angeles, CA, 90069
The Amer-I-Can Foundation for Social Change is a non-profit public benefit corporation, filed March 8, 1993 with the state of California by Jim Brown. The corporation is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes. Special emphasis is placed upon programs involving youth in high crime and low income communities; however, social support and referral services are offered to anyone in need of community resources to assist them in becoming self-reliant. It is Jim Brown’s contention that self-esteem of an individual is raised only when they improve their lives and achieve success through self-determination.
The Amer-I-Can Foundation for Social Change is a humanitarian community outreach program designed as an intervention and prevention tool to curb violence through the initiation of community enrichment projects, preventative care, and human development programs. The foundation relies upon grants, private donations, and profits from the Amer-I-Can Program, Inc. as a funding base. Operations include the forming of Peace Squads led by local community leaders in urban centers nationwide; community cleanups; mentoring programs; and youth activities. The purpose of the foundation is to help local youth take pride in their communities and participate in its enrichment by helping the elderly and disadvantaged, performing neighborhood cleanups, engaging in sports and local events, and other civic responsibilities.
