Rookie Life

This is Chevis Jackson, this is my first blog ever and I’m going to be keeping a journal throughout camp just to update you on all that’s going on with my experience as a rookie with the Atlanta Falcons. Of course, I’m expecting it to be tough because its my first NFL camp.

Right now, I’m in the process of packing my things, I’m bringing shorts and t-shirts and for inspiration I’m bringing an autographed photo of Hall of Fame corner Willie Brown. I met him at the rookie symposium and we talked for a while. Why wouldn’t I bring a photo of him? He’s one of 18 defensive backs in the Hall of Fame! He’s going up right on my wall.

I know as a rookie, once I get to camp I will be put through the ringer, especially with our rookie chores. At mini camp the vets already made me bring water and Gatorade to the meeting rooms, not to mention, I had to carry some of their helmets to practice. I’m pretty sure there’s more in store!

I am also looking forward to getting to know Matt Ryan, he’s pretty down to earth and always hanging out, he even bought the whole team smoothies after a hot day at practice.

My summer so far has been fun, I spent last week at the ESPY’s where I had a good seat (right behind Tim Tebow) and got to see and meet a lot of people. I saw The Roots perform at a Pre-Party and Lupe Fiasco at the awards and I even got my picture taken with Chris Berman on the red carpet. For me it was a thrill.

Well, I look forward to writing here throughout camp and keeping you up to date on all things rookie and Atlanta Falcons! Not to mention, anything having to do with LSU Football. I bleed the purple and gold.

Let me give a shout out to the best DE combo in the nation Tyson Jackson and Kirston Pittman.

Check back here for more.

You looked good at LSU, i think it was less than 30% of passes thrown your way were completed.. I know they’re big shoes to fill but god please be better or as good as D-Hall was within couple of seasons time.

Glad to hear about this blog, I love it when Pro Athletes will open up the happenings of things to us. As a Falcons fan I am really looking forward to our young secondary growing together this season to be a dominant force for seasons to come.

Best of luck in training camp.

Chevis. You treated us well in The Rouge. You stepped up and did a great job once Cory and Travis left. Its always fun pulling for LSU guys once they get in the NFL. Kick some tail out there, but take it easy on the Saints… please

Once a tiger always a tiger.

Chevis,
I went to Southern University but have been living in Atlanta for 20yrs. I am big Saints Fan but I root for anybody out of Louisiana, especially Southern and LSU. My homeboy Devry Henderson played at LSU. I wish you well and will support you at the games.( not against the Saints). Also if you are in to golf, I have several places that I play. Continue the execellent work of showing those GA bulldogs who runs the dome.

Thank you for your commitment to LSU and the state of Louisiana. You will always be remembered as a TIGER even as you go forward with your pro career.

God bless and good luck,
