I am excited to announce that I have finalized plans for the Third Annual Leigh Torrence 4th Down Fundamentals Football and Cheerleading Camp. This annual event gives the youth of my home community of South West Atlanta an opportunity to participate in a one day football and cheerleading camp. My foundation, Southwest Atlanta Youth Foundation (SWAY), is teaming with the NFL Youth Partners and the Police Athletic League (P.A.L.) in order to take the camp to a new level this year. Last Year's 4th Down Fundamentals Camp was a huge success that gave over 450 of Atlanta's youth an inspirational camp experience. That success was due in large part to the generous support of people like you.
Today I am asking you to consider volunteering your time on Saturday June 28, 2008 in order to be a part of this event. The camp will be held at Anderson Park and will run from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. This is sure to be a day of fun, learning and hopefully it will give a bit of inspiration to our youth that all things are possible when you set your goals high, work diligently and focus on positive development.

A native of Atlanta, NFL superstar, Mr. Leigh Torrence founded the South West Atlanta Youth Foundation (SWAY) as a way to mentor kids and assist disadvantaged youth of Southwest Atlanta realize their full potential. One way SWAY works to achieve this goal is through their annual 4th Down Fundamentals Football and Cheerleading camp. The mission of this camp is to teach the fundamentals of football, sportsmanship and the importance of goal setting and perseverance in overcoming life's obstacles in a caring and supportive atmosphere. Each year over 400 boys and girls from Southwest Atlanta have the opportunity, free of charge, to work hands on with current NFL players, coaches, and cheerleaders to learn lessons such as teamwork, discipline, and overall life skills. Not only does the camp help kids learn and improve their football knowledge under the guidance of real life experts, but it also provides them with the opportunity to develop discipline and character... to strengthen inner qualities and to grow as a total athlete.
