The Sports Alliance, which was formed in 2003, is the regional sports commission for the Greater Washington area. We are a comprehensive resource for promoting sporting events, delivering sports information and developing regional collaboration. We have four major goals:
*Attract marquee sporting events to the region
*Connect the business community to the professional franchises, universities and local amateur teams
*Brand Greater Washington as a sports destination
*Support youth investment organizations that use sports to build character & values, encourage fitness and enhance education
[Former professional athletes Dominique Dawes (Gymnastics), Darrell Green (NFL), George McPhee (NHL), Art Monk (NFL), and Brig Owens (NFL) serve amongst the Board of Directors of the Greater Washington Sports Alliance.]
