350 1/2 Main Street Park City, UT, 84060 Website |
Description
U.S. Ski Team member Bryon Friedman will be performing at the The Spur Bar & Grill in Park City, Utah on September 13, 2008 at 9pm. THE SOUND: Great things come from the opposition of ideas and attitudes. In this vein, Bryon Friedman is an artist of extremes. Although comfortable at high speeds, his soundscape is more lazy river, confidence in time, and unrushed. His words are both specific ("you’re only five foot two") and open ("can’t wash his thoughts upstairs"), drawing the line between biography and gentle optimism. Backed by a real barbeque band of friends, there is something more to his melodies than the monkey trap of singer-songwriter appeal, the layers of melodica, Wurlitzer, and percussion lend to a ribs and beer party vibe. Whether its his lyrics, sounds, or vibe that you get lost in when listening to Bryon’s first recorded offering, Road Sodas, will draw in listeners from the whole spectrum. |

| Heal the Snow Map It » |
1740 South Main St. Salt Lake City, UT, 84115 (801) 550-1293 Website |
Description
Awakened to the realization of "Global Warming" by the absence of snow, Heal the Snow is born! Driven by the motivation and love for the outdoors and everything our enviornment provides. We aim to make the world a better place by educating and helping people transition to a healthy sustainable lifestyle. STARTING POINT: The first step to adapt to our changing planet is to begin building a community. We will provide sustainable mobile lodging and transportation to friends and skiers along our travels to build and educate our team of Heal The Snow representitives. These representitives will be traveling together, and most will be professional skiers that are skiing for Team Shred on the U.S. Freesking Circuit. Shred optics, our main sponsor is the first of many businesses which we have influenced and are working with to transition to a more sustainable business model. Shred has made the comitment to use recycled and re-useable plastics for their products and packaging! GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: *Maintain a local community grass roots approach working with companies that have a similar outlook on the environment regardless of their "green" industry knowledge. *Create an eco-city! *Create a sustainable ski area! *We inspire and educate people, communities and businesses to transition to a sustainable lifestyle thus: Eliminating pollution for a healthier planet. *Help slow down and hopefully even stop “Global weirdening” and sweet-sounding “global warming” doesn’t really capture what’s likely to happen. I prefer the term “global weirdening,” coined by Hunter Lovins, co-founder of the Rocky Mountain Institute, because the rise in average global temperature is going to lead to all sorts of crazy things — from hotter heat spells and droughts in some places, to colder cold spells and more violent storms, more intense flooding, forest fires and species loss in other places. *Support local economies by buying biodiesel and utilizing local Solar instalation companies and other forms of local alternative energy such as wind and hydro generators to help eliminate dependence and granting independance and control to the people. *With each project we work on we not only bring efficiency and sustainability but beauty with art and balance. If you would like to see an example, check out the Shred Wagen. *Encourage people to build and strengthen city communities by developing a strong barter system with local business to business transactions that account for a sizable portion of local business to ensure a stable local economy as the dollar progressively decreases in value.
