OUR MISSION
New Jersey After 3 is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding and improving afterschool opportunities for our kids. Our vision is for all New Jersey children to have easy access to high quality, comprehensive, structured, supervised, and enriching afterschool activities.
WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2004, NJ After 3 is the nation's first statewide public/private partnership created to fund afterschool programs. NJ After 3 builds a safe, supportive environment in which kids are inspired to explore, learn, and grow. We extend learning beyond regular school hours and provide homework help, tutoring, sports & fitness, and a variety of fun and engaging learning activities. Our programs provide working parents with a much needed support.
NJ After 3, is both a 'Brand' or 'Model' of afterschool programs and a network of nonprofit afterschool providers. Our 'Brand' of afterschool programs is based on 9 'Core Elements' of afterschool programs that research has demonstrated to be effective. These 9 Core Elements serve as the infrastructure upon which all NJA3 programs operate. NJ After 3 is also a network made up of more than 40 nonprofit afterschool providers. This organizational structure ensures that there is a statewide quality standard of programming, based in research, that is followed by all NJA3 programs. Yet, it provides for local flexibility and builds on the skills, assets and expertise of dozens of nonprofit partners and hundreds of local schools.
