OUR MISSION
The MACC Fund, Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, Inc., is a charitable organization formed in 1976 to support research into the effective treatment and cure of childhood cancer and blood disorders. Cancer is the leading disease-related cause of death in children after the newborn period.
Professional athletes, community-minded business people, corporations, fraternal organizations, local celebrities and individual volunteers are the lifeblood of the MACC Fund and work with our staff to organize various special events and promotions throughout the calendar year. Each fundraiser is based on the concept of 'a good time for a good cause.'
Support comes from many different areas including athletic and social events, special purchase and cause-related marketing programs, and planned giving. However, there is one common goal – to provide "Hope Through Research to Children with Cancer."
And that goal is being realized. Thanks to childhood cancer research, supported by groups nationwide like the MACC Fund, Wilm's Tumor of the kidney is now 90 percent curable and acute lymphocytic leukemia is about 85 percent curable.
Great strides have been made and many more young people today are able to share their cancer "success stories" because of these advances. But, far more needs to be done and continued research is the only key.
The MACC Fund believes it will one day be "cured right out of existence" and shares this optimistic, hopeful vision with all the dedicated researchers, doctors, nurses, parents, children and friends who support its work.
