When Cynthia Cooper-Dyke's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997, she took charge of her care, making frequest trips back and forth to chemotherapy, and checking in with her after every Comets game. Cynthia's mom and hero, Mary Cobbs, succumbed to breast cancer in February of 1999.
In her mother's honor, Cooper-Dyke founded the Mary Cobbs "Building Dream" Foundation which helps raise funds for breast cancer research.
