It Takes a Village
Recently I had a chance to stop by my old high school, North Central High School in Indianapolis. It gave me a chance to step back and realize the impact we can have on those around us, and vice versa.
I began reflecting on those who helped encourage me along the way: my parents, friends, teachers, teammates and of course coaches. Having a support system of trusted people around you is a key to success. My coach at Notre Dame, Lou Holtz, is famous for saying, “The Bible says Abraham died by leaning on his staff. The same will be said about me.”
I’m a firm believer that the resources we need in life are right under our nose. It’s up to us to cultivate and maintain those relationships. I see that now more than ever with my new post at Executive Action Sports & Entertainment.
Most of our clients are athletes and celebrities who are in need of solutions. Many of them have been out on an island the majority of their lives, as self-contained entities branded by their household name.
In the immortal words of JayZ, “I’m not a businessman; I’m a business, man!” About 90 percent of the time, we actually find solutions for our clients within their inner-circle of support. So my challenge to all Prolebrity members is this: Let’s commit to recondition our peers to go beyond the proverbial “me against the world” boundaries.
