Good Luck, 4!
I wanted to respect the chaos — by that, I mean the process of Brett Favre’s return to the NFL –before I made any public comments. Well, here goes …
Just four months ago, I sent out a press release congratulating Brett on his retirement. And as I watched Thursday’s news conference, with Favre holding up a NY Jets jersey, I thought to myself, ‘This isn’t the end. This is just the beginning … of a new SAGA!’
As always, I wish my former teammate the best. Heck, I even offered “4″ my Riverside condo in Manhattan until he gets his island legs. And that is just where he is now, literally, on an island. It’s unfortunate, but the only measurement of 4’s success this season (outside of Hempstead) will be whether his new team’s record is better than the Packers.
Make no mistake, Ted T. and crew will also be measured and critiqued accordingly. In simple terms, no one comes out a winner this year — not even Aaron Rogers, who’s got the sports world’s largest set of shoes to fill.
Did I say no one? OK, almost no one — the good ol’ NFL not only has an incumbent world champion in their largest market, now they’ve got a world icon to hold the limelight in NY just in case Eli starts 2-4 for the G-Men this season.
I don’t know, nor do I care to predict, how this season goes for 4. But as I type this blog with three crooked fingers (from catching passes from him), this loyal brother and teammate would like to make just two wishes:
Wish #1: That Brett has a safe, healthy season
Wish #2: That he gets a HUGE cut of his jersey sales revenue!

Hey Derrick, ‘true dat’ regarding his cut on the jersey sales! — “NFLShop.com received more than 3,200 orders and counting, setting a single-day sales record and single-day single-player jersey sales record.”
De-Rock….ole number 4 needs ole number 1 to catch some in nyc….
