CYCLEBETES
Cyclebetes Australia is a bike relay involving a team of 15 people riding road bikes non-stop from Cairns – Melbourne on August 23rd, raising money for Juvenile Diabetes research in Australia (JDRF).

We are executing this within seven days and aiming to raise $1 million, and set a Guinness Book Record. Along with the core ride there are Community Rides in each major city (Bris, Syd & Melb). These rides vary is distance from 20km – 100kms in which we invite the community to participate as individuals or groups.

WHAT IS CYCLEBETES?
It began in 2007 with one promise, one Champion and it spread. It began with a promise that a father made to his 12 year old daughter.

Vancouver businessman Kyle Balagno promised his daughter Taylor he would do everything in his power to help find a cure for her juvenile (type one) diabetes before her 18th birthday. He had 6 years.

That commitment spawned Team H2V, a 5 man team who cycled across Canada at break neck speed in September 2007. They made the epic ride in just 8 days, set a Guinness World Record and raised $800,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and millions of media hits.

The journey of Team H2V was remarkable and inspiring to all Canadians. The simple goal that fueled the team was the desire to do….something that hadn’t been done…..something big.

Cyclebetes is the legacy of Team H2V – built on themes of community, responsibility, leadership and promise. Cyclebetes gives Canadians the opportunity to become Champions in four events that will take place across the country with donations benefiting the JDRF.

A team of 12 –15 people that are riding bikes non-stop from Cairns to Melbourne in August to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Australia. The team rode across Canada in 2007 and set the Guinness Book record by doing it in 8 days (and raised $1 million for Juvenile Diabetes).

We want to do Australia in 7 days, set a Guinness Record & raise another $1 million. Along with the main ride we will be coordinating community rides at various stops along the journey.

[Note: Former NFL player Andrew Kline will be one of the members of the bike relay team.]
