Carlos Boozer

Utah Jazz star Carlos and wife CeCe Boozer established Boozer’s Buddies to provide valuable information and resources to families affected by Sickle Cell Disease.

Boozer’s Buddies also supports treatment and research by making grants to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations.

Background
Carlos and CeCe were inspired to establish the foundation after their son Carmani’s successful bone marrow transplant.

Carmani Boozer, born on May 31, 2006, was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease while still in the womb. Doctors used stem cells from CeCe’s umbilical cord for a bone marrow transplant.

We hope that sharing our experiences can help make your journey easier.

“You think of yourself as a father, brother, son, a basketball player, all these things,” Carlos said. “Now I realize I’m so much more than that, I’m an advocate. I want to raise money, help kids who can’t help themselves. This is the beginning of a long story for us, and this is just Part One.”
