MISSION STATEMENT
To provide assistance through encouragement, guidance and economic support by participation in programs focused on activities for the academic and physical growth and development of children and young adults, including those with mental and physical disabilities.
HISTORY
The Bernie J. Kosar, Jr. Charitable Trust was established as an Ohio 501.C.3 not for profit corporation June 13, 1991 as a vehicle to offer support and funding for the development and growth of programs for children and young adults, by Bernie J. Kosar, Jr.
Bernie has had a continuing interest in encouraging and fostering academic achievement as well as athletic and physical handicaps development, including children and young adults with developmental disabilities and physical handicaps. He has devoted considerable time and resources through his personal participation in such programs as well as his personal financial contributions and fund-raising activities to help ensure the success and continuation of these programs. The Bernie J. Kosar, Jr. Charitable Trust has provided more than $1.7 million dollars in funding toward these efforts since 1991.
Support is provided to dozens of programs spanning the nationally recognized charities for catastrophic diseases and illnesses; plus, smaller, localized efforts supporting special medical care, research and development, and treatment; wellness programs encouraging exercise and physical fitness of children and youth; safe playgrounds and wholesome activities in inner city neighborhoods; and, academic and athletic scholarship funds are all beneficiaries of the support offered by the Trust.
