On Saturday, September 27th, Pi Lambda Theta and the Student Michigan Education Association of the University of Michigan-Dearborn will join together to raise money for the Grand Kids Foundation. They will hold a 5K Run/Walk on the University of Michigan-Dearborn's Main Campus. The event will include a DJ, food, a kid's zone, many prize give-a-ways, and a special appearance by Detroit Tiger, Curtis Granderson (this will not be an autograph session).

Participants can pre-register by visiting the event website or on-site, beginning at 9:30am, the day of the event. The 5K race will start at 10:30am, which will be followed by a walk at 11:30am. There is a registration fee of $10 per adult and $5 per child. All proceeds will go to the Grand Kids Foundation. Awards and prizes will be presented to the runners with the best times. To continue the celebration, the DJ will kick things off as everyone eats and enjoys a variety of family fun.

As each of these organizations at U of M-Dearborn is dedicated to the field of education, selecting the Grand Kids Foundation as the recipient of the fundraiser was not a difficult task. Detroit Tiger, Curtis Granderson established the Grand Kids Foundation in 2008 as an educational-based organization. Donations to the Grand Kids Foundation will go towards purchasing school supplies for children and schools in need, providing equipment and facilities in some of Michigan's inner cities, and eventually a scholarship program for graduating high school seniors. So, let's all get together and hit a "Grand Slam for Education" by participating and raising money for our area students!
